Russian president meets with Winter Universiade 2019 volunteers

Encouragement for volunteers ahead of Universiade

Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation met with the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade volunteers in the city of Ulyanovsk, where he took part in a volunteer training session.

 

Volunteers from 15 regions of Russia, selected for participation in the Winter Universiade 2019, were at this training session that was held in the format of an intellectual game. President Putin read out questions about sports and the participants had to answer them within a minute. The President then had a discussion with the volunteers and offered encouraging words of advice.

 

“A very interesting stage of life and personal career is ahead of you,” he said. “Because it’s not only about your professional advancement, it’s also about your personal growth for sure.”

 

At the end of the meeting, he wished the young volunteers the very best of luck for what lies ahead.      

 

Over 40 thousand applications were received during the volunteer recruitment process, and finally a total of five thousand volunteers will be involved in the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade from 2-12 March 2019. The recruitment centre currently holds in-person and online interviews with the potential volunteers every day.

The volunteers for the 29th Winter Universiade have been in training and auditioning for the March event throughout the sport competition test events and look to bring a new level of volunteerism to international sports events

The final list of the Winter Universiade 2019 volunteers will be made by the end of 2018. After that, the selected volunteers will be trained in the lead up to the Universiade, including courses in English and the rich history of the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk.
