Krasnoyarsk prepares eight test events before Winter Universiade 2019

The upcoming Winter Universiade host Krasnoyarsk is ready and already starting to welcome the world’s best winter sports athletes with eight test events starting this season. With eight state-of-the-art venues set to host 75 medal events, Krasnoyarsk 2019 is preparing all the services and checking the readiness of all the city venues for the competitions and educational forums that will take place during the Winter Universiade.

 

The Krasnoyarsk test events test the preparations of an event facility, sport management, volunteers and competitors alike 

The test events are focusd on checking the work of all functional areas of the Winter Universiade 2019 Executive. All the organisational processes, from sport, medical services, security, logistics, accreditation, transportation, volunteers, meals, cultural programmes to others, will be tested in real conditions.

 

 

International and all-Russian events in 2018 will test out all eight Universiade sports venues. In less than 2 months, Krasnoyarsk will host alpine skiing events as part of the Russian Cup, Russian Championships – a leg of the Russian Cup, Russian Championships. This week-long International Ski Federation (FIS) event will take from March 4 to March 10. Organisers expect 150 alpine skiers to take part in the competitions, which will be held in Funpark Bobrovy Log, an investment project of Nornickel, a General Partner of Winter Universiade 2019. Anyone can come to the competitions and root for the athletes.

 

The FISU Forum is scheduled in Krasnoyarsk for August 2018. An international educational event will take place at the Siberian Federal University venues. Students, sport leaders and representatives of national sports federations from different countries will discuss the principles of popularizing student sport on the world arena. More than 250 athletes representing 60 countries are expected to attend.

 

 

Six other test events of Winter Universiade 2019 are planned for the fourth quarter of 2018. The Russian Cup event in figure skating will take place at “Platinum Arena” Ice Arena in October. With a seating capacity of 7,000, “Platinum Arena” is set to become the second largest arena beyond the Urals.

 

 

Crystal Ice Arena in Partizana Zheleznyaka Street and Pervomaisky Ice Arena will host participants of Student Hockey Challenge, an international student-athlete ice hockey tournament. The event will be held under the auspices of the Russian Student Hockey League. In October 2018, men’s student teams from Russia and abroad will compete in Student Hockey Challenge events, which will be held in Krasnoyarsk.

 

 

All-Russian student competitions in short track will be held at the end of year in Krasnoyarsk at the Arena Sever Ice Palace. The Russian Women’s Cup in Curling will be held at Ivan Yarygin Sports Palace, and legs of Cross-Country Skiing and Snowboard Championships will be held at Raduga and Sopka Clusters. Plans are for 80 to 450 athletes to compete in each of Winter Universiade 2019 test events.

 

Sales of tickets to test events in hockey will commence in the fall of 2018. More detailed information on test events of the Winter Universiade 2019, the schedule of competitions and list of venues will appear on the official website of Krasnoyarsk 2019 before the of start the Winter Universiade.
