RENNES - The 10th Master'U BNP Paribas, the International University Tennis Challenge, ended Sunday night in Saint-Grégoire/Rennes. Team USA has brilliantly kept its title by dominating France in the final. Germany completes the podium, followed by Russia, Belgium, Britain, China and Ireland.
Organized since 2006 by the French University Sports Federation (FFSU) in partnership with the French Tennis Federation and BNP Paribas, a partner of all tennis, this tournament has become, over the years, a benchmark in the world of university tennis.
Its original formula, which reflects both the Fed Cup and Davis Cup brings together three male and three female players on the same team for a confrontation in 7 matches: 2 women’s singles, 2 men's singles, 1 women's doubles, 1 men’s doubles and 1 mixed doubles, decisive in case of a tie after the first 6 games.
A total of 48 student-athletes, all worthy representatives of dual academic and athletic excellence, were present on the court, many of them players with WTA or ATP ranking.

The referee of the tournament was once again Pascal Maria. Considered one of the best referees in the world, he has officiated at many Grand Slam finals, with the mythical Nadal vs. Federer match in 2008 at Wimbledon (5 sets which lasted 4h47).
Besides the sports competition, BNP Paribas Master'U allows students to become fully involved in organising the event. This year, many students from local universities or schools were involved in the project at various levels: support teams, implementation of live scoring, communication, translation, general logistics, etc.
