COSTA RICA – On Saturday August 24, the Costa Rican University Sport Federation (FECUNDE) celebrated the 3rd University Taekwondo Championship. This event that was held on the Campus of the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, involved 12 universities with a total of 125 student-athletes registered.
This activity was organized with the endorsement and support of the Costa Rican Federation of Taekwondo as an activity of the FECUNDE´s Annual Work Plan. This ¨sport meeting¨ served to introduce the Costa Rican University delegation preparing to participate in the ODUCC Games that will be held in Tegucigalpa (Honduras) in September.
Rosaura Mendez with Wilmar Alvarado
Mr. Wilmar Alvarado, president of the Costa Rican Taekwondo Federation met with Mrs. Rosaura Mendez, FISU Assessor and the FECUNDE with the aim to unify efforts to strengthen the University Taekwondo in this field.
FECUNDE Coordinator Sarita Morales proposed to Mr. Alvarado a strategic alliance between the two organizations in order to organize the 2014 1st Pan-American Taekwondo Championships in Costa Rica (ODUPA) and also discussed organizing a FISU World University Championship.
