Tissot joins the FISU Family as Official Timekeeper of the Summer and Winter Universiades

LE LOCLE/LAUSANNE – FISU, the International University Sports Federation is proud to announce a long-term partnership with Tissot commencing with its flagship events in 2013. Tissot will provide timekeeping, scoring and results services at both the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia and the 26th Winter Universiade in Trentino, Italy.

Tissot, one of the world’s best known Swiss watch brands, will become the Official Timekeeper of the FISU Universiades, the biggest international multi-sport events for student-athletes. With this partnership Tissot will bring its expertise and gold medal standard to the Universiades, which attract some of the biggest and brightest sport stars of tomorrow.

Commenting on the new partnership, François Thiébaud, President of Tissot said: ‘We are thrilled to be bringing our proven expertise in precision timekeeping for multi-discipline competition to the Universiades this year. We have already successfully performed this task for the Summer Universiade on two previous occasions, but 2013 also marks our debut as Official Timekeeper and Partner of the winter edition. We look forward to this new challenge and to providing tomorrow’s best athletes with uncompromising fairness through our world class timekeeping solutions.’  

Eric Saintrond, FISU Secretary-General/CEO, added: ‘We are delighted to welcome Tissot as our Official Timekeeper. As our student-athletes strive for ‘Excellence in Mind and Body’, our new partner will be there measuring and marking their performances.’
