Summer Games 29 September 2019

EKATERINBURG, Russia – The first round of inspection visits ahead of the Summer Universiade 2023 was successfully conducted by the FISU Summer Universiade Department. The team visited the vibrant Russian city to meet the Organising Committee team and to evaluate sport and hospitality infrastructure. The FISU delegation, led by Summer Universiade Director Marc Vandenplas also planned further joint activities in preparation of the Universiade.

The inspection delegation visited the city’s main sports venues which will be home to the Universiade programme – sporting and cultural – such as the Ekaterinburg Arena, the Team Sports Palace, the Sport Complex of the Ural Federal University, Ural Football Academy and many others. The project of the future Athlete’s Village was also studied.

Appreciating the professional approach of the Ekaterinburg team, Marc Vandenplas said, “We are totally satisfied with the scope and quality of information regarding the preliminary work and sports venues.”

“We are looking forward to upcoming years of intense, interesting and – no doubt – challenging work,” he added. “I am confident that our partnership will be effective, and the city of Ekaterinburg will deliver a great edition of the Summer Universiade.

The next inspection visit is planned for November 2019.
