2019 SU: 1st CTI Inspection Visit

Summer Games 12 December 2016

NAPOLI – On 6 December 2016, the marvellous Stazione Marittima of Napoli hosted the Opening Meeting of the First CTI Inspection Visit for the 30th Summer Universiade in Napoli 2019.

The audience was warmly welcomed by ARU President, Mr Raimondo Pasquino, who was invited to open this meeting. The floor was then given to Mr Lorenzo Lentini, President of CUSI (NUSF), followed by Mr Gianluca Basile, Director of the Regional Universiade Agency (ARU) and Mrs Annapaola Voto (ARU Institutional Director). They successively introduced the SU2019, showing great enthusiasm and underlining the historical aspect of this bid: FISU was born in Italy 70 years ago, hosted the first edition of the Summer Universiade and Napoli will be the perfect location to celebrate the 30th edition.

FISU was represented by the SU Department, led by its Director, Mr Marc Vandenplas, along with the CTI-EU Chairperson and Vice-Chair, Mr Jean-Paul Clemençon and Mr Mauro Nasciuti, CTI vice chair Technical coordinator for Napoli 2019.

Inspections are distributed in three groups, over a seven days period:

  • Group 1 (7-9 December): Athletics, Basketball, Football, Volleyball and Water Polo.

  • Group 2 (10-11 December): Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics, Diving, Fencing, Swimming and Tennis.

  • Group 3 (12-13 December): Archery, Judo, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Sailing and Shooting Sport.

All the people involved in this meeting, including FISU Staff, TDs, ARU members and EPIC representatives, emphasised the importance of working closely together: a very auspicious beginning.
