Entries open for the official song of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games

CHENGDU— On 16 November, the Executive Committee of Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games officially launched the global solicitation for original music compositions for the FISU World University Games in the summer of 2021. As the official internet partner of the Games, Tencent will facilitate this campaign with full support from QQ Music.

 

The campaign was first launched on the official Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games website, open to submissions from all around the world. Three stages will take place for selection of the new song:

 

  1. Entry submission

  2. Entry evaluation

  3. Global promotion

 

The winner of the selected song will witness their original tunes become the official anthem of the Games, being used at the opening & closing ceremonies, torch relay, competitions and on many more occasions. It will also be promoted globally.

 

Image ambassadors of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, Lang Lang and Zhang Liangying, will accompany Xu Weizhou (Image ambassador and emblem/mascot spokesperson) and over 100 Chinese influential musicians for the initiation of the competition.

 

Participation is open to all musicians, musical groups and members of the general public passionate about sports and interested in the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games regardless of age, gender or occupation. There is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted by each applicant, and submissions can be made either by mail or online. All are welcome to participate.

 

After the submission deadline, the Executive Committee will establish an evaluation committee to assess all proposals and finalise the winners by late January 2021. The winning songs will by default become candidates for the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games anthem.

 

There will also be a first place prize cash awarding of RMB 80,000, where second place will receive RMB 40,000 and third receiving RMB 20,000. In addition, seven more entries will receive RMB 10,000 respectively (all the above prizes are before tax). 

 

Application are now being accepted and the submission portal will remain open until 18 December 2020 at 17:00.*
