6th WUC Rugby Sevens 2014: update

Canada will fight against France for the women's title

Great Britain, Belgium, France and Canada reached the finals of the WUC Rugby 7

SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS - On this Sunday morning (10), in São José dos Campos, the national teams of France and Canada qualified for the women’s final. While in the Men’s competition Belgium and Great Britain reached the finals.

“It was really hard to get to the final, but we could prepare ourselves for match with Canada. Last edition we lost the final against GBR at our home. This time we hope to win here in Brazil”, said Joana Sainlo, captain of the French team.

"We are just getting better from here now on and now we will play against France in the final. They were in our first match in this WUC. It'll be a chance for reconciliation. The final will be a really tough game. France has really good players but if we stick to plan we might win", said Paige Farries, Canadian player.

At the men's competition, Great Britain beat Brazil 12-10 in the semifinals and will fight to become for the second time champions of the WUC. They won for the first time in France, in 2012.

"The first minutes we sold out the game. Brazil took the opportunities as well. But when the chances of score came to us we did it. Now we are in the final against Belgium", said Freddie Clarke, British player.

"We had a tough semifinal with France, very tiring. There was not a lot space for us to play. Against the British team in the final, it will be a hard game too. They are strong. We will do our best to get to the gold", said Jacob Maclachlan, Belgian player.
