2010 WUC Rugby 7s Update: Day 1

PORTO – The first day of the WUC Rugby Sevens was quite promising as well as the second when it comes to the male competition. Great expectations were definitely confirmed.

Portugal made its first appearance in the tournament winning 50-7 against Poland. In the opening game, Russia kept on the good results with a victory over Belgium for 29-0.

During the second day, the results were very dissimilar. On the one hand, Italy and Lebanon made a continuous effort to achieve a victory. At the end, Italy won 27-14 against the Lebanese students. On the other hand, the Japanese athletes scored 57 points against Hungary.

For the first time in the Championship Sevens, there was a draw between the Spanish and the Canadian teams (17 – 17).

 

Spain carries on winning

The Spanish female students keep on showing their classy style in Bessa XXI. On the second day of competition, Spain beat Norway for 50-0.

The Great Britain and Brazil had an exciting match. “The Brits” won against Brazilian 10-7. Even if both teams didn´t score that much, this was one of the most cheered by the fans.

Portugal added another victory, this time against the Ukrainian students for 24-7.

Canada and Italy took their guts out to win the game. However, the Canadian athletes were stronger, winning by 19 – 12.
