1st AUTC: Arrival and Accreditation

Technical Meeting

 

On April 24th, 8 teams from China, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Iran, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and U.A.E. arrived in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., to compete in the 1st Asian University Taekwondo Championship to be held from 25th to 28th.

All the teams are accommodated in the Armed Forces Officers Club, except Team Iran, which is lodged in the Park Rotana Hotel, due to late registration. A shuttle van has been arranged for Team Iran by Dr. Omar A. Al-Hai for their convenience. In order to leave more sufficient time for the participating teams for training, the AUSF, together with the OC decided to do the accreditation for all the teams in the evening, just before the Technical Committee Meeting held at 8: 30 p.m. on 24th April 2010.

On the Technical Committee Meeting, Mr. Kenny CHOW, AUSF Secretary-General first delivered a speech, expressing his sincere gratitude on behalf of AUSF President and any other EC member to Dr. Omar A. Al-Hai, the Secretary General of NUSF of U.A.E. and the AUSF Vice President for his great job done in last few months, which makes this Championship come into being.

The Chief Referee was nominated, who is Mr. Mohammed Ishak, an international referee and the Chief Referee from U.A.E. Taekwondo Federation. Under his direction, the draw of lots was done.

On April 25th at 8 am, the weight-in for the athlete took place under the supervision of Mr. Issam BARAKAT, who is the U.A.E. Higher Education Sports Federation Technical Committee Head for Dubai.
