WUC medal winners felicitated in Portugal

FISU 26 March 2019

With one of the most successful World University Championship years recently behind us, the Portuguese University Sports Federation acknowledged the efforts and talent of ten university athletes who made Portugal proud during the 2018 WUC season.

The year 2018 was a successful one for the world University Championships in general, with 32 stand-alone events that made for a calendar full of quality competitions. There were three Championships in particular where Portuguese student-athletes excelled; these were Futsal, where the women’s team won bronze, Downhill Mountain Biking and Handball where the Portuguese men finished fourth.

Partnering with Jogos Santa Casa (a social games managing institution), FADU felicitated the medals winners at these Championships, and also honoured José Rebelo – a third year medical student at Universidade do Porto – for his outstanding contribution in getting Portugal to fourth place finish at the World University Handball Championships.
