National University Championships in Mongolia

ULAANBAATAR – The team of Mongolian State University of Science and Technology was honored “The Top University of Sport – 2014 in Mongolia”  from all of Mongolian universities and colleges according to the total result of the 2014 National University Sports Championships with 10 sport events organized by the Mongolian Student Sports Federation (MSSF).

The closing awarding ceremony of the National University Sports Championships was held in the Central Sports Palace in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 20 May, 2014. During the closing ceremony, the top six sports universities of Mongolia were distinguished by a Diploma of Honor, Trophy, Memorial Medal and Reward. 

According to the final result of the 2014 National University Sports Championship the ranking after 10 sports events is the following:

1st place – Mongolian State University of Science and Technology;

2nd place – National Institute of Physical Culture of Mongolia;

3rd place – Mongolian State University of Education;

4th place – Mongolian State University of Agriculture;

5th place – “Mon-Altius” Physical Culture Institute of Mongolia;

6th place – Mongolian National University.

The National University Championships of Mongolia were organized in 10 sports, i.e. judo, handball, volleyball, chess, taekwondo, table tennis, basketball, wrestling, futsal and woodball. A total of 2,081 participants including 1,847 student-athletes, 134 teachers and coaches, from 37 universities of the capital city and other provinces as well as 100 referees were involved in the events. Taekwondo was included for the first time in the National University Championships.

The best student-athletes from the National University Championships will attend the FISU World University Championships in 2014. Mongolian student-athletes will participate in the upcoming World University Taekwondo Championship which will be held in Hohhot, China next June. They will also compete at the World University Wrestling Championship in Pecs, Hungary in July, WUC Chess in Katowice, Poland in August and WUC Woodball in Perlis, Malaysia in October. In addition, Mongolian university sports teams are also preparing to take part in the following 2014 World University Championships: golf, archery, boxing, shooting sport, weightlifting and speed skating.

The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Bayasgalan D., FISU Treasurer and MSSF President; Dr. Jargalsaikhan D., the MSSF Secretary-General and CIC Member of FISU; Mr. Batsaikhan Kh., President of Mongolian Students Union; Dr. Batsaikhan B., Specialist for higher education department at Ministry of Education and Science and other authorities.
