2019 Winter Universiade Coverage and Broadcasting by Russian Lead Companies

Multisports 22 February 2016

KRASNOYARSK – The 2019 Winter Universiade Directorate signed two cooperative agreements in the framework of the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum (KEF2016). They concern information coverage and organisation of the 2019 Winter Universiade.

Responsibilities for the coverage and publicity of the Games in Krasnoyarsk were taken by ITAR-TASS news agency, one of the top four news agencies according to UNESCO classification. The collaborative agreement was signed by Director General of the Executive Directorate of the Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 Maxim Urazov and Adviser to Director General of ITAR-TASS, federal state unitary enterprise, Andrey Sokolov.

The parties agreed to collaborate on providing publicity of the event in Krasnoyarsk, as well as in federal mass media to highlight the progress of joint information projects. As of today, ITAR-TASS has 60 international centers and delivers news in six languages.

“It is a great honor to sign this agreement. Our main task, as a national news agency, is to provide the information stream about the preparation of the Winter Universiade within and outside the country at international scale. It isn’t only the preparation for the event that we are intend to show but basically the prospects of university sports. It is the main priority of the national policy”, Andrey Sokolov commented.

Also, the 2019 Winter Universiade Directorate signed another agreement with National Sports Channel (Match TV), LLC. The document was signed by the Director General of the Executive Directorate of the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 and Deputy Director General of the National Sports Channel, LLC, Borislav Volodin.

The parties agreed to collaborate on the development of the Broadcasting Concept of the Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019, preparation of broadcasting infrastructure in all venues of the Universiade and establishment of the International Broadcasting Centre.

The newly acquired partner has already had rigorous experience in broadcasting of major international events—the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, the 2015 World Aquatics Championship in Kazan, etc.

“We wish to cover the Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk on a full scale. Currently, Match TV comprises the best technical and human resources. We have enough experience in broadcasting of international events in Russia. No doubt, we will do our best in broadcasting all events preceding the Winter Universiade and the event itself to live up to the highest expectations. The ratings are planned to be quite high in broadcasting a number of events”, Borislav Volodin claimed.

“Both of the agreements are genuinely important. The Executive Directorate jointly with FISU have elaborated a marketing programme. We have found some partners. Now, three years before the Games, we acquire a potential media partner that will support us in raising public awareness about the preparation of the 2019 Winter Universiade in Russia and abroad. It is also important to take care of the issues concerning the broadcasting of the Universiade venues. We are currently at the stage of design, so it is vital to make the right decisions. In 2019, we will have to provide high-quality signal and dimension. Our colleagues are experienced in these aspects”, Maxim Urazov added.
