2011 SU Update: Last Inspection before the HoD Meeting in April

SHENZHEN – From February 23rd to March 3rd, FISU is conducting the last inspection to Shenzhen, P.R. China, before the Head of Delegations’ Meeting, which is going to be held from April 14th to 16th 2011.

The CTI Chair of Summer Universiade, Mr. Stavros Douvis, together with Summer Universiade Director, Mr. Marc Vandenplas; Sports Manager Mr. Michal Buchel and Assistant to Summer Universiade, Ms. Jing Zhao are present in Shenzhen for this inspection. Mr. Shen Zhen, Director of Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) also went there to join the FISU delegation.

The inspection started with a whole day meeting with the Sports Department and Venue Department. The OC made a progress report on all the 24 sports, covering the main aspects as Competition Schedule, Venue Construction, Entries, Timing and Scoring, Technical Handbook, etc.. FISU delegation carefully listened to the reports and raised several key questions.

From February 24th, the FISU delegation started its venue inspection, and they will cover 38 venues in the next three days. Following the sports and venues part, FISU delegation will have various meetings with all the functional departments of the Organizing Committee to discuss Timing and Scoring, Athletes’ Village, Catering, Transportation, Media and Broadcasting, the preparation of the Head of Delegations’ Meeting and the Team Draw, and other non-sport areas.

A delegation from Kazan, the host city of the 2013 SU, will come to Shenzhen at the end of this inspection to discuss with Shenzhen OC and FISU about the debriefing meeting after the Universiade and other cooperation issues.
