#WUAlmaty2017: Update Ice Hockey –Day 4

Winter Games 2 February 2017

 

 

ALMATY – Four games today at the Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

 

Men’s Tournament

GBR vs USA

Great Britain and USA opened today’s ice hockey competition with the UK succeeding in scoring their first goal. After Team USA had already scored three goals, Liam Charnock assisted by Christopher Cooke and Ivan Antonov, managed to use the one man advantage in the powerplay netting the puck in the US goal. The following periods Team USA continued to besiege the British goal winning the match. Final score: 1-10 (1-3; 0-4; 0-3).

 

LAT vs KOR

Latvia was the better in the second game of the day facing Korea. The Latvians managed to widen the gap in the first period scoring four goals, two resulting from a powerplay. In the second period Korea managed to score twice dominating the period, Latvia only once. However the Koreans remained scoreless again in the last while Latvia netted one more goal. Final score: 6-2 (4-0; 1-2; 1-0).

 

 

CHN vs SWE

Another though game for China as the Asian team faced-off against Sweden. The Swedish team blanked their opponents. Sweden made 65 shots on goal, while China only managed 6. Final score: 0-15 (0-5; 0-6; 0-4).

 

Women’s Tournament

RUS vs JPN

Russia overpowered Japan in today’s only women’s game. The Russians came on strong netting five goals in the first period. Team Nippon managed to score in the second period via Sakamoto, but Russia dominated the game adding another victory to their name. Final score: 10-1 (5-0; 2-1; 3-0).
