Brazil invites the World to participate in 2 WUCs it hosts in 2012

Maceió Beach, Venue for the 6th WUC Beach Volleyball 

 

BRASILIA This year Brazil will host two World University Championships (WUC) and Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU) invites all members of the International Federation of University Sports (FISU) to participate in these tournaments. They are: the 21st World University Handball Championship, in Blumenau (SC), from June 21 to July 01, and the 6th World University Beach Volleyball Championship, in Maceió (AL), from September 12 to 16.

Blumenau, one of the Brazilian cities with greater German influence in its culture and history, is also one of the cradles of handball in the country and will host the 21st edition of the World University Handball Championship.

The women’s team of Blumenau/Furb, fruit of the partnership between the city hall and the University of Blumenau, plays for seven years the National League and reached the final of the tournament six times. The residents ofBlumenau, fans of the sport, are ready to fill the stands to honor the young handball stars.

Maceió, capital of the Alagoas state, will host the 6th World University Beach Volleyball Championship. Located on the northeast coast ofBrazil,Maceiois known for its beautiful beaches and exquisite cuisine of seafood. Emanuel Rego, Olympic medallist and World Beach Volleyball champion, points Maceió as the most beautiful beach he has ever played on. Maceió is also in the route of the National Circuit of Beach Volleyball for over 15 years.

“Blumenau, Maceió and Brazil are ready to receive the young athletes and teams from all over the world to these tournaments”, says Luciano Cabral, president of CBDU.
