Delegates of FISU World University Championships’ Organising Committees recently met in FISU Headquarters in Lausanne to exchange their plans and strategies ahead of the 2024 FISU World University Championships season.
During the course of the 3-day seminar and in the presence of Marian Dymalski, FISU International Technical Committee Chair, Organising Committees successively presented their event, the level of preparations of it as well as the schedule of the competitions.
Each presenter also gave detailed explanations on the venues, installations and equipment to be used, as well as the cultural activities and the legacy associated with their championship.
Juan-Carlos Holgado, FISU Sports Director, and his team provided guidance and offered some suggestions to the delegates, who also enjoyed the presentation of Julia Pinggera and Gernot Huphauf, member of the Organising Committee of the Innsbruck 2022 FISU World University Championship Sports Climbing, one of the best organised FISU championships last year.
The diversity of the projects presented also allowed interesting discussions on the importance of volunteers, the role of universities, the need for more sustainability and the support of the media when organising such world-wide events.
