FISU Steering Committee Meets in Ulanbaataar

ULANBAATAAR – The FISU Steering Committee met in Ulaanbaatar on 26 and 27 August 2014. The meeting was hosted by the Mongolian Students’ Sports Federation (MSSF) through its President and FISU Treasurer, Bayasgalan Danzandorj, and MSSF Secretary General, Dorjsuren Jargalsaikhan.

 

The session on 26 August was officially opened by the Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism, Mrs. Tsedevdamba Oyungerel who warmly welcomed the FISU representatives in Mongolia and who demonstrated her strong support to the development of the university sport movement in the country. The FISU Steering Committee members discussed the progress of the Universiades and WUCs as well as internal business and other projects. The FISU President, Claude-Louis Gallien, and Secretary General, Eric Saintrond and FISU Treasurer, Bayasgalan Danzandorj, participated in a press conference with the local media as a way to promote university sports in Mongolia. The Steering Committee meeting was very successful. The meeting continued on 27 August with a session in the morning.

 

During their stay, the FISU members also had the honour to meet with the Mayor of Ulanbaataar, Mr. E.Bat-Uul, who shared his great enthusiasm and the possibility to host a FISU event in the future. Moreover, the FISU members have been received by the Chair of the Board and CEO of Golomt Bank, FISU bank partner. The FISU members learned that the word “Golomt” meant hearth and they declared that the bank was the hearth of the FISU Family.
