  • FISU opens its video archive up to member associations for watch party content to bring the best of international university sports home.

  • Every Thursday at 16:30 CET, FISU and several Member Associations will replay classic team sports match-ups throughout the holiday season.

After launching over 30 replays of instant-classic games during the first global lockdown period to much fanfare, we’re back in the act of bringing the best of international university sports to your home.

classics Kazan 2013 Look Sports Basketball (104)After having opened FISU’s archive of television-quality content to broadcasters and member federations, FISU is again looking to reach audiences directly by launching #UniSportsClassics. This time around the content will focus on full competition replays from the Summer and Winter Universiades, starting today with the women’s semifinal match-up of Chinese Taipei against Japan from the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade.

The re-lives will start at 16:30 CET  every Thursday on the FISU YouTube and Facebook social media channels. For Chinese-speaking audiences, FISU is also bringing re-watchable content to our Weibo and Youku platforms.

Several FISU Member Associations will also get in on the act, posting these same games natively on their own digital media channels to create a truly global watch party concept.

“We all want to watch world-class sport, and I am happy that we are working with broadcasters and our own OTT player and social sites to give fans the very best that university sport can offer,” said FISU President Oleg Matytsin during the initial launch. “Student-athletes love competing at our events, and that comes through with the incredible performances we see from them on the field of play. This makes for content that makes you stop what you're doing to watch and follow along with the action.”

With the digital savviness of university student-athletes and fans well-known, FISU will enhance its immersive online experience by allowing fans to select their favourite competitions for re-live stream until further notice.
