FISU America Forum caps successful year

First ever FISU America Games held, big hopes for 2019

HUIXQUILUCAN, MEXICO – FISU America capped off a productive 2018 with the second edition of the FISU America Forum that focused on ‘Sport in the University Curriculum’.


One of major tournaments organized by FISU America this year was the highly successful FISU America 3X3 Cup, organized by ADUSAL in Santa Tecla, El Salvador. The tournament doubled as the continental qualifier for the 3x3 FISU World University League Finals that were held in November in China, with teams from Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia and Chile qualifying for the Finals.


The Brazilian University Sports Federation CBDU organized and hosted the first ever FISU America Games in Sao Paulo.These historic Games were held between 20-28 July 2018 and brought together 1400 student-athletes from 13 countries across North and South America.


The FISU America Forum held at the Anahuac Mexico University North Campus, rounded off this historic year with multiple exhibitions, round tables and debates related to university sport and cultural activities.


FISU Secretary General Eric Saintrond was also present at the Forum, in addition to 100 participants from 15 universities representing Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador, Peru and Venezuela.


The president of FISU America, Alim Maluf Neto, noted that “FISU America worked hard in the preparation of all events and successfully met the objectives of the 2018 calendar.”


“We expect a much better 2019,” he added.
