Just following the Opening Ceremony of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, the FISU World Conference will commence. Scholars and sport leaders will gather 29-31 July to focus on the development and growth of university sport. The main theme for this edition is “University Sports: Embracing a Colourful World”. Chengdu Sports University is host to the conference that will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Wenjiang in Chengdu.

The FISU World Conference provides a platform from which scientific papers can be presented and discussed thus aiming to grow and develop global university sport. Therefore, building on the main theme, sub-themes that will be discussed by presenters and participants alike include:

• Sports and a better city

• Health in an interactive life

• Technology for a smarter future

• Culture in a more inclusive world

Multiple speakers will present on topics related to the listed themes. Keynote speakers at the FISU World Conference include:

• Gudrun Doll Tepper – Professor of Free University of Berlin, Chairperson of the Germany Olympic Academy

• Chen Junshi – Chinese Academy of Engineering, Researcher and General Advisor of the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment

• Zhong Bingshu – Former President and Professor at Capital University of Physical Education and Sports, Vice President of Federation of University Sport China, FISU Education Committee Member

• David Grevemberg – Chief Innovation and Partnerships Officer with the Centre for Sport and Human Rights, former CEO of Commonwealth Games Federation

• Bastien Presset – Researcher at the University of Lausanne and King’s College London

• Konstantinos Georgiadis – Dean of the International Olympic Academy
