BEIJING – With the FISU World University League 3×3 Basketball Final 2015 to kick off in one month, a Press Conference of the event was held on 8 September at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Mr. XUE Yanqing, FISU CDSU Member and FUSC Vice-President, Mr. XU Xipeng, Vice-President of LOC, together with representatives from the Ministry of Education in China were present at the press conference which was attended by journalists from 14 national mainstream media agencies like CCTV, People’s Daily, etc.

The FISU World University League 3X3 Basketball is a new FISU programme, launched this year. The League’s final will be organized in Xiamen, China from 9 to 11 October 2015, with the participation of 24 Teams, 12 Men’s and 12 Women’s (cf. tables below), from 11 countries and regions, i.e. China, Russia, Brazil, Chinese Taipei, Switzerland, France, Britain, Uganda, Australia, Senegal and Canada . The competitions will be recorded by Xiamen TV station and broadcasted by CCTV 5 and EuroSport. Besides the competitions, cultural activities like Chinese paper-cut crafts, Dragon-boat racing, martial arts performances will also be displayed and experienced by all participants.
Mr. XUE Yanqing also mentioned that other events will be organized, i.e. a gala to celebrate the launch of the ‘International Day of University Sports’, a World University Sports Seminar and the launching ceremony of the ‘Campus Run’ programme. Initiated by FISU and FUSC, the proposal of the ‘International Day of University Sports’ was approved during the 196th session of the UNESCO Executive Board in April 2015. Defined to be on 20 September each year, it is aimed at involving all the universities and colleges, sports organizations, students, sports administrators around the world together for the educational events, sports and cultural galas, performances on that special day.
Through the organization of all the above events, the officials, student-athletes as well as sports authorities in the global village could take advantage of the opportunity and platform to further strengthen communication and exchanges with each other for the brilliant future of International University Sports.
