TAOYUAN – FISU WUC Director Laurent Briel visited Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei for an inspection visit of the venues and accommodation for the upcoming World University Baseball Championship. His visit was also an occasion to meet with the local OC and members of the CTUSF directly involved in the organization of this championship, i.e. Lo Chih-Hung, Deputy Secretary General CTUSF; Ann SU, member CTUSF; Li-Wei Huang and Huang Jung-Sung, Chinese Taipei Association of Leisure & Tourism.

OC & CTUSF staffCompetition will be played at the Taoyuan International Baseball Stadium, which is ideal to organize a World University Championship. This ballpark has already featured competitions organized by the International Baseball Federation and is equipped with all modern comforts needed for the event. The surface is grass and the venue currently has a capacity of 12,000 seats. After refurbishing works, the venue will accommodate 20,000 spectators. Adjoining the main stadium, a second stadium will also host competitions and training sessions. This venue has a capacity of 2,000 seats.

The professional baseball team playing in the main venue is currently in second position in the first division of the country.

The different places inspected offer all the amenities for the event. The organizers once again demonstrated their sense of hospitality by setting the standard of hotels well above average. The hotel chosen for the delegations is the City Hotel which is located in Taoyuan County.

During the working meetings all the points related to the organization of the championship were discussed as well as the communications policy and promotion of this championship.
