XIAMEN — After two days of hardcourt savvy, deft-defying dunks (particularly from the Germans from Goettingen) and rainbow shots from beyond the arc, day three is when the tournament really turns it on as preliminary pool play gives way to knock-out games. Individuals also will have a time to shine outside their collective units with the shootout and slam dunk contests on tap.
While Saturday’s schedule contests will decide who moves on from this collection of the world’s best men’s and women’s university 3×3 teams towards the finals, don’t sleep on the sharp-shooting ladies in the shootout contest to steal the show from the high-flying and hard dunking men in the slam dunk contest.
