Softball

Softball entered the programme of the FISU World University Championships in 2004 with a first edition organised in Plant City (USA). The event welcomes a maximum of 12 women’s teams. In 2007, Softball was an optional sport at the Summer Universiade in Bangkok. From 2020 softball will be attributed together with men’s baseball.

The History of Softball in FISU

Softball entered the programme of the FISU World University Championships in 2004 with a first edition organised in Plant City (USA), which welcomed 129 softball players from 8 countries. Since then, only one edition took place, in Tainan City (TPE). The sport also featured once as an optional sport at the Summer Universiade in Bangkok.
