Milos the Mascot

The White Tower, named “MILON” has been chosen as the mascot of the 8th World University Wrestling Championship 2008, since the White Tower is the emblem of the city of Thessaloniki and Milon was one of the most famous wrestlers in Ancient Times. Milon was a winner six times in Olympia, seven times in Pythia, nine in Nemea and ten times in Isthmia. During the 60th Olympiad in 540 B.C., Milon was a winner for the first time in the boys category. From 532 to 516 B.C. he won the Olympic kotinos five times.
