2010 WUC Wrestling Update: Day 2 of Competitions

TORINO Wednesday, October 27th, in the morning, elimination rounds were performed in the competition hall for Freestyle 60 – 74 and 96 kg and for FW 51 and 67 kg.

Those categories competed for repechages and finals in the afternoon, while the categories for FW 48 – 55 – 59 – 63 and 72 kg made their final entries and medical examination.

At 10am, FISU CIC delegate Mezziane Hasnaoui confirmed the actual accreditation of 127 men, 66 women and 88 officials, a total of 281 participants, but arrivals are foreseen until the day after tomorrow and we will surely reach 33 countries, according to Andrea Ippolito, Secretary-General of the LOC, which represents a real record in participation.

The participating countries so far are: Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Rep., Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Norway, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and USA.

Matches started again at 5pm with television broadcasting from RAI until 20:30pm.

Meeting with the next organizersA meeting with the Organizing Committee of the future edition in 2012 in Finland was held to discuss about the progress situation of the event and the promotion at this event. Two representatives attended this meeting: Maarit Laitinen and Akseli Hakala. A bulletin was presented and dates have been discussed with the CTI Chair Ibrahim Cicioglu, as well as invitations, entries etc.

The day closed with the awarding of the 5 finals and the cup for the men teams in freestyle.
