TRENTO Yesterday, 27 February, was the first day of the meeting between the FISU International Technical Committee and the Organising Committee of the next Winter Universiade, which will be held in Trentino on 11-21 December 2013.

The visit aims at discussing technical issues related to sports and finalising the competition schedules. The agenda features a three-day programme, with plenary meetings and parallel sessions in small working groups. The FISU technical delegates will also inspect the competition venues located in Trento, Monte Bondone, Baselga di Piné, Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa. It will be the occasion to attend some test events of the Nordic Ski World Championships, which are currently taking place in Val di Fiemme.

At the Rectorate of the University of Trento, the meeting was opened by the welcome speech delivered by the Rector, Prof. Davide Bassi, and by the President of the Oganising Committee of Trentino 2013 WU, Mr. Sergio Anesi. It continued with the presentation of all delegates of FISU and the OC by CTI Chair Roger Roth, with an introduction by the Director for the Winter Universiade, Milan Augustin, and followed by a general presentation on the progress made in its important organisational task by the Organising Committee. Then the meeting focused on sports technical details related to the venues and to the competition schedule.

The discussions will continue today during and after the visits of the sports venues.

In Trentino not only the CTI members are present, but also the Vice-Chair of the International Medical Committee, Dusan Hamar, and the Chair of the International Control Committee, Al-Hai Omar Abdulaziz.
