Team Mexico

This category ended the WUC. The closing ceremony was headed by Juan Sosa Puerto, who represented the State Governor Rolando Zapata Bello. At his speech, he emphasized that the section of the complex where the championship was hosted, has been refurbished recently thanks to the support from the State and Federal Governments. Anthony Davis, FISU EC member underlined the good organization and congratulated everyone who was involved with the event. Carlos Echazarreta González, Autonomous University of Yucatan (event venue) representative, awarded the team winners and the individual winners.

The culmination of the competition was an award ceremony for the best team (the team which got the most medals). In the women’s category, the third place was for Chinese Taipei, the second place for the USA and the first place went to host country Mexico. In the men’s category, Mexico also got the first place and USA got the second place again too, but the third place was for Korea.

Kuo Hsing-Chun, from Chinese-Taipei, was crowned ‘best sportswoman’ at this championship. ‘Best sportsman’ for men went to Chen Lijun, from China. All the team and individual awards were a replica of the Kukulcan Pyramid.
