PORTO – After Day 3, the semi-finalists are known, i.e. the women’s teams of Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and Czech Republic, and the men’s teams of Sweden and Switzerland.

In the women’s competition, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and Czech Republic assured a place at the semi-finals taking place today! Sweden will play against Czech Republic and Finland will face Switzerland.

Yesterday, at the last game of women’s Group A, Finland defeated Switzerland finishing with a result of 6-4. In the women’s Group B Czech Republic assured a place at the semi-final winning by 21-0 to Spain. At the other game of Group B Poland faced Japan. Poland came back stronger from the time break. High pressure and impressive moves were the keys to score four goals in a row and the Polish girls ended the game winning by 1-5.

In the men’s competition we already have two semi-finalists, Sweden and Switzerland. Finland got the 3rd place of men’s Group A and will dispute the qualifying with Spain that took the 2nd place of Group B. Spain assured its place at qualifying for the semi-finals winning to Japan 5-2. In the same Group (B) Slovakia assured the 1st place defeating Spain by 13-3. In this final round, the Slovaks are going to face Czech Republic in the other men’s qualifier.

The games of men’s Group A saw Sweden face-off against Czech Republic. The current Champions showed their will to defend the title and were able to control the team of Czech Republic. The loser team seems to be disappointed with the score (2-5) since this result leaves them at the end of the table of this group.

In the other game of this group, Switzerland overcame Finland by 6-3 in a crucial and exciting game that defined the other men semi-finalist.

The Group B was full of surprises! Especially for the home team! Portugal won the first game of the competition against Korea by 6-5. When the Portuguese team scored their first goal, the crowd went wild. But the team of Korea fought until the end. The third period started with a tie (4-4), but at the last minute of the match Portugal scored and got their first victory.
