Thank you M. Ken Min

Summer Games 8 July 2015

GWANGJU – Moments of emotion last night in Gwangju for the ceremony of homage to Mr. Ken Min who is retiring after 30 years of dedication to university taekwondo.

Many taekwondo authorities were present, i.e. the President of the World Taekwondo Federation, Mr. Choue Chungwon; the WTF Honorary President, Mr. Lee Daisoon and of course the FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien.

All have paid tribute to the exemplary work done by Mr. Ken Min in his role as taekwondo expert at the university level. FISU Technical Delegate for the sport since 1986, Ken Min is also the founding President of the USA Taekwondo Association and the National Collegiate Taekwondo Association. He it is also a certified WTF international referee as well as the Secretary-General of the Pan-American Taekwondo Union.

Under his leadership and hard work, but also thanks to the excellent cooperation initiated with the WTF, taekwondo has quickly established itself within FISU as a flagship sport since the first edition of the WUC Taekwondo organized in 1986 in Berkeley (USA). Taekwondo has become such a popular and successful sport in the FISU sports programme that it will become a compulsory sport of the Summer Universiade programme from 2017 onwards.

A long life to you Mr. Ken Min!
