7th Master’U BNP Paribas in Aix-en-Provence kicks off

AIX-EN-PROVENCE Yesterday, December 6th, the 7th edition of the Master’U BNP Paribas International University Tennis Challenge organized by the French University Sport Federation officially kicked off with the opening ceremony in Aix-en-Provence. It was marked by a parade of Nations held on the famous Cours Mirabeau in Aix, and was followed by the draw in the City Hall. This year eight national teams will compete during the three-day event, i.e. Germany, Belgium, China, the United States, Great Britain, Ireland, France and Russia. The tournament takes place according to an original formula, a kind of mix between the Fed Cup and Davis Cup, where each team consists of 3 male and 3 female players and where each encounter will be competed in seven matches: 2 women’s singles, 2 men's singles, 1 women’s doubles, 1 men’s doubles 1 mixed doubles. Who will succeed Team USA, the winner of the 2011 edition in Rouen? The answer to this question will be known Sunday afternoon.
