2012 WUC Taekwondo: second day of Kyorugi competition

POCHEON
 – On day four of the of World University Taekwondo Championship, in Pocheon (Korea), the Kyorugi competition is in full swing with four more weight categories crowning their respective World University Champions.

In the Men’s -58kg weight category, Tae Moon Cha from Korea defeated Chen-Yang Wei from Chinese Taipei in the final. Yuma Yamada from Japan and Huseyin Bezci from Turkey were bronze medallists. The Woman’s -49kg saw Chinese Taipei gather yet another medal with Hsing-Hua Lee defeating Erika Kasahara from Japan by 5-1 in the final fight. Jeong Soo Kim from Korea and Ayse Hazal Boyanmis from Turkey were 3rd placed.

In the Men’s -80kg, Yunus Sari from Turkey won gold by defeating Jeong Soo Kim from Korea by 8-7 in the final. Abd Elrahman Osama from Egypt and Behzad Eilkhani from Iran were bronze medallists. Finally, in the Woman’s -67kg, Xiaofei Wang from China beat Seham Elsawalhy from Egypt by 3-0 to take the Gold medal. Carmen Marton from Australia and Petra Matijasevic from Croatia were 3rd placed.

The organising committee also provided a cultural visit for participants at the event. The attendants visited the Pocheon Art Valley and Beasangmyun Brewery in Sansawon, and Museum of Korean Traditional Sweets and Cookies in Hangaone and the Herb Island also in Pocheon.

Kyorugi Women’s -49kg: Gold: Lee (TPE), Silver: Kasahara (JPN), Bronze: Kim (KOR) and Boyanmis (TUR)

Kyorugi Women’s -67kg: Gold: Wang (CHN), Silver: Elsawalhy (EGY), Bronze: Marton (AUS) and Matijasevic (CRO)
