2012 WUC Taekwondo: Kyorugi continues on day 5 of WUC Taekwondo

Competition has been at high level throughout

 – Day five in Pecheon at the World University Taekwondo Championship saw the Kyurugi Men’s -74kg and +87kg, as well as the Women’s -62kg and +73kg gold medals being attributed.

In the Men’s –74kg weight category, Maizeroi Toranin from France defeated Jong Bin Seo from Korea by 1-0. It was a close match but in the end, the Frenchman was able to hold on to his slim margin. Bronze medallists were Farzad Abdollahi from Iran and Florian Schaller from Germany. France had even more reason to celebrate as Anne Caroline Graffe took gold in the Women’s +73kg. She defeated Chia Hwi Peng of Chinese Taipei by 4-1 to claim the title. Bronze went to Hellorayne Paiva from Brazil and Milica Mandic from Serbia.

The Kyurugi Men’s +87kg was won by Khodamiboroujeni Jalal from Iran who defeated Anthony Mylann Obame from Gabon by 3-2. Third place went to Stephen Lambdin from USA and Despaigue Robelis from Cuba. Spain claimed gold in the Women’s -62kg weight category with Eva Calvo beating Krisitna Khafizova from Russia by 6-3. Bronze medallists in this category were So Hee Kim from Korea and Aline Dossou from France.

Tomorrow will be the final competition day and closing of the 12th World University Taekwondo Championship. The Kyurugi Men’s -63kg and -87kg ; and Women’s -53kg and -73kg weight categories to be decided.

Kyorugi Men’s -80kg: Gold: Sari (TUR), Silver: Kim (KOR), Bronze: Osama (EGY) and Eilkhani (IRI)

Kyorugi Women’s -49kg: Gold: Lee (TPE), Silver: Kasahara (JPN), Bronze: Kim (KOR) and Boyanmis (TUR)

Kyorugi Women’s -67kg: Gold: Wang (CHN), Silver: Elsawalhy (EGY), Bronze: Marton (AUS) and Matijasevic (CRO)
