The Gwangju Universiade Heads of Delegation Meeting wraps up

Summer Games 15 April 2015

GWANGJU – The Gwangju 2015 Universiade Heads of Delegation Meeting came to an end on Wednesday, 14 April. The day started with more venue inspections to the Gwangju Universiade Main Stadium, Yeomju Gymnasium, Yeomju Bitgoeul Gymnasium, Yeomju Indoor Aquatics Center, Gwangju International Archery Center and Hwasun Hanium Culture Sports Center.

In the afternoon, a Q&A session and a final meeting took place after the final venue tour.

Meanwhile, the Q&A session was a platform to communicate with the participating countries and find positive workarounds that can be effected for the games in July. Free Wi-Fi throughout the village and air-conditioning were highly discussed topics during the session.

For the past three days, the Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organizing Committee had a mini ‘Main Information Center’ next to the HOD Meeting Room which had GUOC staff members from various functional areas (i.e. transportation, delegation services, catering, Athletes’ Village, sports management, and accommodation) to directly answer questions. As a result, the Q&A session focused more requests than inquiries.

For the past three days, over 110 delegates from 51 countries took part in the HOD Meeting.

With less than three months until the opening ceremony, the Heads of Delegation Meeting was truly an opportunity to cooperate and assess the preparations for a successful Universiade which begins on July 3 in Gwangju, Republic of Korea.
