AUSTRALIA Victorians Tim Nguyen and Barak Mizrachi and South Australian Jonathan Schubert have been selected in the Australian Uniroos table tennis team to compete at the Summer Universiade in Russia this July.

“Representing Australia is always an honour and I can’t wait to compete in Kazan. I will do my very best and I know it will give me valuable experience as I look towards qualifying for the 2016 Paralympics” Mizrachi said.

Schubert brings experience to the team having competed for Australia at the 2011 Summer Universiade. The 24-year-old University of Adelaide student will be looking to better his performance and take the fight to the typically dominant Chinese athletes.

Environmental student, Nguyen will also be debuting in the Uniroos team. Following strong performances in the past few years Nguyen is looking to contribute a solid performance for the men’s contingent.

The table tennis programme will be held at the Sport Palace runs from 8 to 15 July and will have seven gold medals up for grabs; singles, doubles and teams.
