GWANGJU – On Wednesday, 15 April, the Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organizing Committee (GUOC) was invited to a special event to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) at the United Nations headquarters. The organizing committee had a special segment to promote the upcoming games and invite United Nations ambassadors to the Universiade Gwangju 2015, which will be held from 3 to 14 July.

A thirty minute special segment for the Universiade Gwangju 2015 was arranged at the three hour event where key figures from the international sporting community, including United Nations Secretary-General BAN Ki-moon and International Olympic Committee President Thomas BACH took part.

The organizing committee presented a short video and promoted the EPIC Universiade. Throughout the segment, Gwangju received a positive reaction from the participants.

“As the city of Gwangju is known for democracy, peace, and human rights, the 2015 Summer Universiade will flourish in peace with the city’s dedication and support.” said KIM Yoon-suk, Secretary General of the Gwangju Universiade, in his commemoration speech.
