SEOUL – What is the role of University Sport in global sport? What are the new challenges for tomorrow’s world sport leaders and what are the strengths that will make them effective and respected leaders? These were the topics discussed at a conference at the Seoul National University (SNU) and where the FISU Secretary General/CEO Eric Saintrond addressed a panel of students from 24 countries.
These students follow a training organized by the ‘Dream Together’ master programme within the SNU which brings together university graduates who wish to obtain a training and postgraduate degree in the management of international sport.

“It is always an honour and a great pleasure for me to interact with students from all over the world. This conference allowed us not only to provide information on our university sports movement, but also to exchange ideas on sensitive issues affecting global sport such as doping, betting, corruption, violence and racism,” said FISU SG/CEO Eric Saintrond at the end of this session.
The interest demonstrated by the participants showed that there is a real desire among young sports leaders to change the management of the international sports bodies by applying better rules of governance and by concentrating more efforts in the education of athletes and their entourage.

Among the students present, two of them – Tedious Ruzvidozo (ZIM) and Raushan Kulakhmetova (KAZ) – are part of a selection of six students recommended by FISU for this training. Both students were selected in the final stage on 30 June 2016.
