2013 SU Update: FISU Flag Replica handed over to Naberezhnye Chelny

NABEREZHNYE CHELNY – As part of the FISU Flag Relay-related events in Naberezhnye Chelny, the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate signed a cooperation agreement with Kama State Academy of Engineering and Economics, one of the most reputable higher education institutions of the Autocity

The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Larisa Sulima, Rector of Kama State Academy of Engineering and Economics Vladimir Shibakov and Deputy Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Flera Andreeva.

«We are deeply honored to be named plenipotentiary representatives of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate in our city and apply our intellectual and human resources to make sure that the forthcoming Summer Universiade inKazanare held at the highest possible level. We are given an opportunity to prove that our Republic is the leading sports centre of Russia. We will make every effort to take the most active part in the Universiade», said Vladimir Shibakov, Rector of Kama State Academy of Engineering and Economics.

For her part, Chief of Staff of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Larisa Sulima marked the particular importance of involving students of Naberezhnye Chelny in the preparations and staging of the Summer Universiade inKazan. «We are sincerely happy to bring the legendary logo of the International University Sports Federation in one of the republic’s cities best known for its sports achievements. Naberezhnye Сhelny is famous worldwide as the hometown of the legendary KAMAZ-Master team and famous athlete and Olympic Champion Gulnara Galkina-Samitova. Today young representatives of Naberezhnye Chelny are brilliant leaders in Tatarstan’s youth policy and student self-government. I’m sure that as Kazan 2013 volunteers you’ll become the most active and helpful part of Team 2013», said Larisa Sulima.

During the Fresher’s Day Gala Concert that proceeded later on in the evening, the FISU Flag replica with the city’s name on it was handed over to students of Naberezhnye Chelny.

In his welcome address to first year students Rector of Kama State Academy of Engineering and Economics Vladimir Shibakov wished them success in creative work and studies, and health so that they could perform well at the World University Summer Games in Kazan. For her part, Larisa Sulima noted that student years of today’s freshers would coincide with a wonderful time of the preparations and staging of the 27th Summer Universiade inKazan. «You are extremely lucky people, you not only study in one of the best education establishments of native Tatarstan, but also are witnesses of a unique international multi-sports event which bears a historical significance for the whole of Russia», said Larisa Sulima.

«It’s not by chance that Fresher’s Day coincided with the FISU Flag Relay in Naberezhnye Chelny», said Deputy Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Flera Andreeva. «Talented, athletic and bright students of the Autocity will make a considerable contribution to the preparations of the Universiade inKazan.»

After the ceremony ended, the floor was given to most talented first year students of Kama State Academy of Engineering and Economics. They demonstrated the full scope of their talent in singing, dancing, acting and comedy. Most of them have every chance to become part of UNI-elite and brighten up the cultural program of the 27th Summer Universiade inKazan.
