#WUAlmaty2017: Figure Skaters … from Mexico

Figure Skating 2 February 2017

ALMATY: When it comes to Mexico and sports, figure skating (or even winter sports in general) would probably not be the first one that comes to mind. Yet at the 28th Winter Universiade, Mexico is being represented with two athletes and both of them practice this highly aesthetic sport – Priscila Alavez and Rosado Aislin.

“It feels like a responsibility to do a good job,” admits Aislin Rosado. “For both of us it’s really good to be here, to be the only ones and get the attention from Mexico.”

For the 23 years old athlete, this is the first time at the Winter Universiade. “I feel really excited because I’ve never been to a major multi-sport event like this so it’s just really nice to represent Mexico here and my university,” says the student of University of Monterrey.

Rosado has been practicing figure skating since she was eight. “In Mexico we don’t really have much winter sports, we just have figure skating and ice hockey,” explains the winner of Mexican national championship in both 2015 and 2016.
