Patronage: FISU Muaythai University World Cup

BANGKOK – History will be made in Bangkok with the first FISU-patronized Muaythai University World Cup from 16 to 23 March. Athletes from 43 countries will participate in this event. The University World Cup is held in cooperation with FISU, the University Sport Board of Thailand, the Royal Thai Government, and IFMA, the international muaythai governing body. Today’s champions are tomorrow’s leaders and they will come from all five continents. The women’s division will take the main stage at the Muaythai University World Cup with so many top class athletes contributing to a great lineup, such as Funda Diken, (TUR) and Myriame Djedidi (FRA). Both girls competed at the last IFMA World Championship in Langkawi.

The Muaythai University World Cup is more than just a sporting event. It is a well of cultural, sporting, and educational exchange with a one day forum on Youth, Education and Sport. Along with the competition events, various side conferences and meetings will be conducted, with the main forum being on Youth, Education and Sport. Speakers will be coming from various parties namely, UN Women with the UNiTE to End Violence Against Women campaign, SportAccord, FISU, Thailand University Sport Board, the Thai Government, IFMA, and many others. Over 200 participants from over 70 countries will participate in this important forum which truly shows that the power of sport must and can make a difference to society. The forum is sponsored by the Thai Government, the Department of Physical Education, the National University Sports Board of Thailand, the Amateur Muaythai Authority of Thailand (AMTAT), under Royal Patronage, and IFMA.
