Swedish University Sports Award

FISU 21 January 2010

At the Swedish University Sports Award, that took place before Christmas, a new award was founded – for the best Swedish achievement in international university sport of the year.

The first award winner was the men’s curling team Niklas Edin, which won the gold medal at the 24th Winter Universiade in Harbin. Later the same year, they won the European Championships and they will also represent Sweden in the upcoming Olympics in Vancouver next month.

‘We are very proud of the team Niklas Edin and their achievements. Their success in the Winter Universiade has really been helpful for us in the process of marketing international university sports here in Sweden’, FISU Vice-President Stefan Bergh said.
