Polish Universiade Medallists received by the Head of the State

WARSAW – On the 15 November President of Poland Andrzej Duda met the medallists of the 2017 Winter and Summer Universiades. Besides the medallists and university rectors, the meeting was also attended by: Elzbieta Rafalska, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Politics; Jan Widera, Vice-Minister of Sport and Tourism; professor Alojzy Nowak, President of Polish Student Sport Association (AZS); Marian Dymalski, FISU Vice-President and Adam Roczek, EUSA President.

President Andrzej Duda thanked the medallists and presented them gratitude letters. The President mentioned that he himself had been a member of AZS for years and had taken part in skiing competitions; hence, His Excellency knows the history of AZS very well.

 

 

 

The medallists were also congratulated by prof. Alojzy Nowak, the President of Polish Student Sport Association, who also appreciated the rectors of universities, promoting university sport. Prof. Nowak underlined that during the latest Summer Universiade in Taipei a student from AZS Wroclaw Joanna Linkiewicz brought the 500th medal for the Polish team in the history of its participation in Universiades.

During the reception in the Presidential Palace a 4-time gold medallist in hammer throw Pawel Fajdek and a gold medallist in snowboard Weronika Biela thanked the President of Poland for the invitation and support and presented a memorable gift.
