Former FISU Young Reporters Luana Cruz and Everton Melo

BRASILIA FISU Young Reporters from Brasil, Everton Melo (2011 YRP) and Luana Cruz (2013 YRP) face a new challenge as they start working for the Media Department of CBDU, FISU’s Brazilian Member Association. Their baptism of fire will be the 61st University Brazilian Games (JUBs 2013), taking place in the city of Goiânia, Goiás.

Originally from Recife, northeast of Brazil, Everton Melo participated in the first edition of the FISU Young Reporters’ Programme in 2011, during the 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China. “The experience in China changed the path of my professional life and I can’t thank FISU and CBDU enough for the opportunity they gave me. Now I hope I can give back all the knowledge gained in the Programme”, Everton commented.

Luana Cruz, also from Recife, attended the second edition of YRP, earlier this year, in Kazan, Russia, during the 27th Summer Universiade. “I will use all the experience I gained in Kazan and do my best to face this new step in my professional career at CBDU”, Luana said.

The young professionals began their career in sport journalism, when they volunteered at the CBDU University Sport League in Recife in 2010, when still enrolled at University. Both of them have also been to the Brazilian University Games as student-athletes, Everton in swimming and Luana in judo.
