CBDU launches the Brazilian University Games 2017

 

 

 

GOIAS - Goiás, which hosted the last World University Futsal Championship, will receive one of the largest and most traditional sporting events in Brazil: the Brazilian University Games (JUBs), which will bring together participants from all the states of the country and the Federal District. Opening the solemnities and official events, the Cocktail of the 65th edition of the competition was held in Goiânia, on 29 September. The event was attended by political and sports authorities, as well as athletes and representatives of the 27 Federations in Brazil. It will be the biggest edition of the games, which will gather more than five thousand athletes, from 18 to 29 October.

"We brought the JUBs to Goiás in 2013 and it was wonderful. It is a state that is involved with the sport and that has put itself to a new challenge, to receive the biggest JUBs in history," celebrated CBDU President Luciano Cabral.

The Brazilian University Games reach its 65th edition as the largest university competition in Latin America. The event will gather in Goiás, from 18 to 29 October, more than 5,000 participants from 26 states and the Federal District, among delegations, referees, volunteers and Organizing Committee.

In all, there will be 20 sports modalities: badminton, 3×3 basketball, judo, athletics, swimming, beach volleyball, tennis, table tennis, chess, academic, e-sports, with the FIFA 2017 game, basketball, futsal, handball and volleyball, and the para sports: swimming and table tennis.

This year's edition also features three new sports: taekwondo, League of Legends in e-sports and para athletics.

The event will have approximately 20 sports venues, distributed in three cities of Goiás, as well as 19 hotels that will attend participants in the capital of Goiás.

The Brazilian University Games in Goiás is an achievement of the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU) and the University Sports Federation of Goiás (FGDU), and has the support of the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Sports, and the Government of the State of Goiás, through the Department of Education, Culture and Sport of Goiás (Seduce).
