Brazil will host 2nd International University Beach Games

MACEIO – The second edition of the International University Beach Games is coming! The competition will be based on the sands of Maceió, capital of Alagoas, Brazil, between the 27 March and 1 April. The event will receive 250 participants from more than 10 countries – Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, Colombia as well as an African team in a student internship in Brazil. They will compete in beach handball, beach soccer and beach volleyball, in a men’s and women’s tournament.

 

According to the president of the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU), Luciano Cabral, the event presents itself as a way to consolidate a worldwide scope project. “We have been staging the Brazilian University Beach Games for the last eight years, and four years ago we started to design the project on an international level, which now we have the opportunity to consolidate as a great worldwide sporting event, created, developed and initially organized in Brazil”, the President commented. Cabral also highlighted the slogan: ‘Beach Games, from Brazil to the world’. “A beautiful structure is being prepared for the edition in Maceió, a city that lives a great moment of tourist interest, where we have a perfect scenery to show the world an event with a Brazilian signature, in a city that has one of the most beautiful coasts on the planet”, he added.

 

Brazil will be represented by universities of the Alagoas state and by the winning teams of the last edition of the Brazilian University Beach Games, held at the end of 2016.

The 2nd International University Beach Games is realized by the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU), the FISU America and the University Sports Federation of Alagoas (FADU), with the seal of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Partnership of the Ministry of Sport, Maceió City Hall and Onza Fabric and Industry.
