FeDUA hosts Successful 2nd Argentinian University Games

BUENOS AIRES – Federación del Deporte Universitario Argentino (FeDUA), the Argentinian FISU Member Association oranised the 2nd edition of its National University Games. The Games were held in Buenos Aires, at the following venues: the ‘Centro Nacional de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo’ (CeNaRD), at the ISEF ‘Dr. Romero Brest’, the ‘Ciudad Universitaria’ and the ‘Club Obras’. The Universidad Nacional de La Matanza – La Matanza National University- (UNLaM) was hailed as the ultimate champion for the second consecutive year, being the strongest university with 2,850 points.

A total of 3,500 students from 90 educational institutions from across the country competed in 13 sports (21 disciplines) in the final stage. Besides the traditional sport, canoeing, judo, rowing, shooting, softball, ultimate frisbee and water polo were added as promotional sports, in order to boost them among universities.

The UNLaM finished first, ahead of ISEF “Romero Brest” and the Universidad de Córdoba – University of Cordoba- (UNC) that completed the podium. The Universidad de Buenos Aires – University of Buenos Aires- (UBA) ended fourth and the Universidad Nacional de La Plata – National University of La Plata- (UNLP) fifth.

The Argentinian University Games gather more than 20,000 students and graduates. The first stage is divided into 9 regions. The winner teams qualify for the national stage, in which the champion is crowned.
