2017 WU Update: The Universiade in Almaty could serve as an Impetus to the Development of Bandy

ALMATY –Inclusion of bandy in the program of the 28th Winter Universiade of 2017 could serve as a huge impetus to the development of bandy not only inKazakhstan, but also worldwide.’ Such opinion during the press conference devoted to the 2012 Bandy World Championship was expressed by Vladimir Savchenko, the Secretary-General of the federation of bandy in Kazakhstan.

Also, experts noted the support the state and sport organizations provide towards the development of bandy for the last three years. The republic held the Kazakhstan Bandy Championship, Republic of Kazakhstan Cup and first Youth Winter Olympics in 2011.

Furthermore, from January 29th to February 5th, 2012, the Bandy World Championship will take place in Almaty. Group A competitions will be held at the alpine Medeo skating rink, Group B and Group C – at Central Stadium. In total, 14 teams from all over the world will participate in the championship.
