GRANADA – Already the third and final day of the meeting of the heads of delegation this morning in Granada. Traditionally, the last session is devoted to questions and answers as well as the team draw for the ice hockey and curling tournament. Eric Saintrond, FISU Secretary-General/CEO made a brief welcoming speech recalling the importance of the Q&A session as part of the preparations for the Universiade.

The questions were quite numerous and mainly concentrated on areas such as transport or accommodation which is usual. When and how will the hotels be designated for the delegations? What will be the place allocated to the head of delegation? What are the facilities offered to the medical staff? How will drug testing take place? What is the accreditation process? What are the opening hours of the accreditation centre? Accreditation, will it be done online? Can the athletes practice with temporary cards? How many vehicles will be allocated to a delegation? All questions for which the Organising Committee gave specific answers. A transcript of the Q&A session will also be sent very quickly to all participating countries providing the most complete information possible and anticipating a maximum of possible problems.

Leonz Eder, FISU Vice-President, also reminded the delegates how important it was to inform as soon as possible the OC on particular demands and meet the set deadlines.

Kairis Ulp, Chair of the Commission for Supervision of the Winter Universiade thanked the Organising Committee for its work with the heads of delegation during these past three days.

Ignacio Pipo, CEO of the OC took the opportunity to make an appointment with all delegates in four months’ time from now for a Universiade which looks fascinating.

Team Draw Ice hockey & Curling

The team draw could then take place under the direction of Robert Philip, Vice-Chair of the Technical Committee for the Winter Universiade. You can find the results of the draw here.
Finally, the delegates will meet on 28 September in Slovakia for another two-day session, since Nordic skiing and biathlon were relocated to Strbske Pleso and Osrblie respectively.
